Can you tell me more about what makes the Vintage Sofa Company different?
A family run business, we are proud to be different - stocking unusual, beautiful vintage-inspired sofas, chairs, footstools, rugs and more. We specialise in high-quality leather, Harris Tweed and sublime velvet sofas, that look amazing and feel even better.
Our sofas are British made, using time-honoured techniques and quality materials, all fairly priced.
We are here to ensure that dreaming about your new look room is as fun in reality as it is in your daydreams! You won’t find pushy sales people, just tea in the pot and maybe a chocolate brownie (if we’ve been baking…) And if you’d prefer to shop online and would like to know a bit more about the products we stock - just give us a call to book an online appointment at a time that suits you.
Do you sell accessories?
Everything we show on our social channels and website is for sale (dependent on stock levels). You’ll find a wide range of mirrors, beautiful artwork, clocks and lighting. Some items may be available for Click & Collect only.
I’m not sure what kind of thing I’m looking for, can I book an online consultation appointment?
Absolutely. Choosing a sofa that’s part of your home for years to come is a big decision. We are happy to help guide you through our different ranges, size options and bespoke finishes. We offer a range of virtual appointments, just call us on 01422 761000 or email sales@vintagesofa.co.uk to book a time that suits you.
Can you tell me about the leather you use?
Our sofas are upholstered using the finest aniline and buffalo hide leather. We use the best leather you can buy as it’s the most natural, soft and gracefully supple.
Aniline leather is a type of leather dyed exclusively with soluble dyes. The dye colours the leather, resulting in a product which enhances its beautiful natural surface. Over time it will develop its own beautiful natural patina, much like a fingerprint, and you’ll have something that’s one of a kind!
Will the leather flake and peel?
Our leather is hand dyed with special aniline dye which permeates the hide. Unlike a lower quality bonded leather which sits on top, the result is a beautiful natural colour which enhances the hide and doesn’t rub off or peel.
Can you tell me about the velvet you use?
We only use the best commercial “hotel” grade velvet, so you know it’s made to last and withstand all that everyday life entails.
Can you tell me about the Harris Tweed?
Harris Tweed has long been the choice of the discerning from the gentry of the 18th century to today’s catwalks and couturiers. We stock products in two exquisite, certified Harris tweeds – Grey and Gamekeeper Thorn. Separate pigments of wool are carefully blended into special 'recipes' before being spun. The wool is handwoven by Islanders of the Outer Hebrides, with skills passed down from generation to generation.
As Harris Tweed is made from 100% pure wool, the sofas are hardwearing; warm in winter and cool in summer, it resists water, cleans easily and is incredibly soft to touch.
Can I have a sofa made to specific size?
Yes, some of our lines have bespoke options and can be ordered to your exact specifications, please call on 01422 761000 or email sales@vintagesofa.co.uk for more information.
Do you provide an interior design service?
We offer an online consultation service and can guide you through our product ranges, and we can also recommend some fantastic local interior design services should you require further assistance.
Are all the fabrics you offer shown online?
Unfortunately not as we have so many to choose from. Our most popular are shown online but if you’d like to know about all our bespoke options, please give us a call on 01422 761000 or email sales@vintagesofa.co.uk.
What days you offer delivery?
We can arrange delivery of items Monday - Friday. Items are delivered between 9am and 8pm.
When will my item be delivered?
If you’ve ordered an item in stock, delivery is usually between 7 – 14 working days from the date of purchase. A member of our logistics team will contact you to arrange a convenient delivery day.
Bespoke item delivery timescales are estimated by the sales team when you place an order. Once your item has arrived at our warehouse, our delivery team will be in touch to arrange a convenient time for delivery, this is usually 7 - 14 following arrival to the warehouse.
How do I know what time my item will be delivered?
Delivery tracking becomes available on the day of your delivery, please contact the delivery team on 01422 761000 (Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm) for tracking information on the day. Deliveries are scheduled to arrive any time between 9am and 8pm on the day they are due.
Do you offer ‘to a room’ delivery?
We do offer room delivery but if access is tight or up a set of stairs we need notification in advance so we can get a suitable company to provide a quotation. If information is not given at the time of booking, then your order maybe delivered to your front door only or delivery will unfortunately be unsuccessful and returned to us, incurring a charge.
Do you assemble items?
As we use courier services we are regrettably unable to assemble items for you or unwrap them. If your sofa needs to be delivered in component parts to enable access you will need to assemble after.
Where are my sofa legs?
Because of the way your furniture is securely packaged for delivery, the feet are often parcelled up separately. Your sofa legs will arrive in a special bag within the wrapped sofa or are stored in a zipped pouch within the lining of the sofa, accessed from underneath. Please note that sofas are often delivered with transport legs to ensure your sofa arrives in perfect condition.
In the unlikely event that the feet for your sofa cannot be located, please contact our support line on 01422 761000 (Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm).
Help, my sofa has arrived not as expected
In the rare, regrettable instance your sofa has not been delivered in the condition expected, please get in touch with our support team by email at support@vintagesofa.co.uk. Please send us your order reference number, description of the issue and photographs. We aim to respond to all queries within 2 working days to swiftly resolve any issues.
It’s very unusual for any orders to be delivered with items missing. In the unlikely event that this happens, please make sure you alert us as soon as possible so that we can look into the issue further and arrange for the missing item to be delivered as soon as possible. Please note that feet are often packaged separately and stored underneath the sofa for safe transportation.
I only seem to have 2 casters with my sofa, not 4
Casters are only used on front legs of our sofas rather than back legs to ensure your sofa is supported properly. If you've ordered casters your sofa will also come with two back legs which may be packaged separately or stored within the pouch underneath your sofa.
What do I do if I've changed my mind?
We want you to be happy with your order. Please contact us on support@vintagesofa.co.uk to let us know about about any changes to your order as soon as possible, particularly if you've ordered an item that is being made to order. Where possible we will try to accommodate changes up to 14 days after an order has been made. Changes are still possible outside the 14 day order timeframe, however, delivery times will be affected and additional costs may apply if your product is already in production.
Can I order if I live abroad?
Yes, simply drop us an email (delivery@vintagesofa.co.uk) with your location for a quote.
How should I look after my sofas?
Harris Tweed
To keep your new sofa or chair looking good we advise that you delicately brush or vacuum it once a week.
Leather
Leather is a natural product and like a fingerprint, it features unique attributes such as shade, grain variation and natural markings, all of which enhance its beauty.
To keep it looking its best, dust your furniture regularly with a soft cloth. We advise against using a vacuum cleaner on leather. All leathers can be affected by light; we recommend it is positioned away from direct sunlight and heat sources to protect against fading and premature wear. Aniline leathers are especially sensitive to sunlight. Position at least 30cm away from radiators and other heat sources.
Leather is a natural material and will not respond favourably to everyday cleaning products, water damage or abrasive materials. Before you clean your leather sofa, make sure you choose leather safe cleaning materials and if in doubt consult a leather cleaning professional.
Velvet
The most important way to maintain your velvet furniture is to clean it regularly but gently; a little brushing and regular careful vacuuming with a vacuum cleaner that has an upholstery attachment will go a long way. Gently shake cushions regularly to reduce wrinkles developing.
Do you offer guarantees on your sofas?
We offer a range of guarantees on our products. If you’d like to learn more, please email sales@vintagesofas.co.uk and we’d be happy to discuss the different options.
